At the English College in Prague we are at the start of our first Change Maker week, exploring innovation and disruption. Change can mean uncertainty. Outcomes can be hard to predict. We are curious about exploring what uncertainty looks like, the ideas it provokes, and the discussions that arise…
We have some budding architects at our school who want to display their work. We will also have an interactive activity for any visitors who come to our stall.
In architecture and engineering, it is often not possible to make highly accurate predictions about how a structure will respond, due to loading and strength variables. So often in 3D construction, we are focused on creating a stable structure. This task inverts that idea and invites you to create a 3D model that looks ‘uncertain’, ‘disrupted’ and ‘unpredictable’
Shape of Uncertainty: Create a mini sculpture that represents uncertainty using a selection of random materials
Tangled Thoughts: Make a sculpture that shows what uncertainty feels like using rubber bands or wires.
Balancing Act: Build a sculpture that seems unstable or unbalanced, reflecting the unpredictability of uncertainty.
Fluid Forms: Sculpt something fluid and dynamic out of plasticine, representing how uncertainty can change and flow.
